This Rainbow Portal T-shirt takes the gentlest symbol the sky has to offer and places it in the middle of the darkest scene you could wish for on fabric: a sunken city of ruins full of horned silhouettes, framed by cracked layers of violet rock. At its center the rainbow arch appears again, this time small and concentrated, like a spell in the middle of being spoken. So the front shows what is happening, the back who or what set it off, and this staging works in both directions.
The craft logic of the whole thing is remarkable. Paper-cut lives on the fact that every layer is a decision about what gets covered and what shines through, and the design keeps strictly to that: no crack sits by chance, no creature stands in its place without reason, and the brightest point of the image lies exactly where all the layers open up the view. That creates a depth you feel physically, even though the fabric stays completely flat.
Color-wise a nocturnal palette rules, made of aubergine, violet and lilac, charged with cyan and neon pink. Despite all its fantasy abundance, the Rainbow Portal T-shirt stays astonishingly wearable: with black it merges into a single appearance, with dark jeans it becomes the eye-catcher, and under an open shirt the portal glows out like a secret you only half give away.
