All-over print darts player shirt: an old lantern casts warm light on three darts stuck in the red bull, on a board tilted back. On the back a closed wooden cabinet with iron straps, and weathered wood on the sleeves.
Product description
This darts player shirt captures the hour when only one lamp is still burning and the last round has been thrown. The print runs across the whole shirt, and on the front an old lantern hangs from a wooden beam just below the collar. Its warm glow falls on three darts packed tightly into the red bull and on a board framed by a thick wooden rim. Everything around them is plank wall, dark and weathered, fading into shadow toward the edges. There is no lettering anywhere, neither slogan nor name; the mood comes from wood and light alone.
The lantern is made of dark, tarnished metal, with a wire handle on top, a glass body with narrow struts in the middle and a wide shade at the bottom. Inside the glass it glows amber, and from under the shade the light pours down in a cone. Where it lands, the boards turn honey gold and every crack and groove in the grain shows, while the outer corners of the chest stay almost completely dark. The result is a bright pool in the center that leads your eye from the lantern straight down to the darts.
The three darts stand almost upright, their points meeting in the red center. The middle one points straight up, the left one leans to the left and the right one to the right, so their flights open into a small fan at the top. The flights are dark with red markings, the shafts long and dark, the barrels brass-colored with fine grooves. The board itself is seen at a steep angle from above, tilted back so far that it looks wider than it is tall. Its segments alternate between cream and deep brown, the narrow scoring rings for doubles and trebles take turns in red and green, and thin wires divide every field. The outer bull is bronze brown, the inner bull red. Where the numbers would normally be, there are only small, curly brass-toned marks that cannot be read. A broad wooden ring holds the board, and the pale segments are scuffed and scratched as if someone has been throwing at it for years.
On the back the plank wall continues, with dark knots on the left and right. In the middle hangs a closed wooden cabinet, the kind that hides a dartboard once the game is over. Its two doors are built from vertical boards and rise toward the center in a curved arch. Four dark iron strap hinges with rivets hold them, two per door, each ending in an arrowhead that points to the middle, where two round knobs sit side by side. A trace of warm light touches the top of the arch, and below it the wood sinks into shadow. The sleeves are wood as well: old, cracked boards in reddish and deep brown, each with two knots and no further motif.
A darts player shirt like this is for people who love an evening at the oche: at the local pub, in the clubhouse, in a basement with a board of their own on the wall or at an away league match. It suits the player who always wants one more leg while everyone else is reaching for their jackets, and anyone who links darts with wood, lamplight and long nights rather than stages and spotlights. Give it on a birthday or at Christmas, after the final match night of the season, or to whoever keeps the cabinet key. A team can kit out every player and turn up as a crew wearing the same design.
Everything is printed in one pass after you order, and the print covers the whole surface right into the seams. Polyester with elastane makes up the fabric, smooth to the touch and of medium weight, with two-way stretch. The look is that of an old oil painting, with paint that seems thickly applied, earthy tones and deep shadows, all printed flat on the fabric. Under the lantern the board is still in play; turn the shirt around and the cabinet is shut for the night, while the sleeves stay plain old timber. That small story, told without a single word, is what sets this darts player shirt apart from fan gear.
